Meet Our Team

Total Joint Replacement: A Modern Approach

Joint replacement has changed dramatically. Advances in surgical techniques, technology, anesthesia, pain management, and rehabilitation have transformed both the procedure and the recovery experience. At Queen’s, we bring these advances together with the expertise of our joint replacement specialists to provide personalized care focused on reducing pain, restoring mobility, accelerating recovery, and helping you return to the life you enjoy.

Same-Day (Outpatient) Total Joint Replacement

For many appropriately selected patients, modern hip and knee replacement no longer requires an overnight hospital stay. Our same-day joint replacement program combines advanced surgical techniques, modern anesthesia, pain management protocols, and a coordinated approach to recovery, designed to help patients get moving sooner.

You will work with a physical therapist on the day of surgery to begin walking, practice stairs when appropriate, and learn how to move safely after your procedure. Before you leave the hospital, our team makes sure your pain is appropriately controlled, you are medically stable, and you can safely move and function at the level needed to recover at home.

Same-day discharge does not mean rushed care. It reflects how far joint replacement has advanced—allowing eligible patients to recover safely in the comfort of their own home while remaining supported by their surgical care team.

Robotic-Assisted Total Knee Replacement

Robotic-assisted total knee replacement brings advanced technology and greater personalization to knee replacement surgery. Using detailed information about your individual anatomy, robotic technology gives our surgeons advanced tools to plan and perform your procedure with a high degree of precision.

By helping optimize implant positioning, alignment, and the balance of the knee, robotic-assisted surgery has the potential to reduce postoperative pain, improve function, and support a smoother recovery. It’s another way our surgeons combine their experience and expertise with the latest technology to individualize joint replacement for each patient.

Direct Anterior Total Hip Replacement

The direct anterior approach represents a modern approach to total hip replacement designed to restore mobility while minimizing disruption to the muscles and soft tissues surrounding the hip. By accessing the hip joint from the front, our joint replacement specialists can perform hip replacement through an intermuscular and internervous plane without detaching major muscles from the hip.

For appropriately selected patients, the anterior approach has the potential to reduce early postoperative pain, promote earlier mobility, and support a faster recovery. Combined with modern implant technology, advanced pain management protocols, and early physical therapy, our goal is to have patients up and walking within hours of surgery. Many eligible patients can return home the same day and continue their recovery in the comfort of their own home.
